In early 2005, Bangalore Notes was introduced to the extraordinary art of the late Rumale Chennabasaviah - painter, resident & prominent citizen of the city - via a short profile by TP Issar in 'Topic' Magazine.

Remarkable in its vivid colours & similarity to the work of the great 20th Century French impressionists - we did some further web searching to find that a collection of his art may be viewed at the Rumale Art House - maintained by his foster grandson Shri Sanjay M. Kabe in Rajajinagar.

Rumale Art House is located at:

674, 3rd Block, Rajajinagar,
Phone: 23351293

We also found a profile of the painter on a French art website.

In late 2011, a centenary retrospective of Rumale's work, entitled Varna Mythiri was presented by the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Bengaluru and ran from Decmber 18, 2011 to February 19, 2012.
